“Four Seasons” was plagiarized by Scott Collins

2016年3月6日星期日

This is written in English so that the English speaking world can read this.

I composed the poem “Four Seasons” over several years on Baidu in separate pieces, with both English and Chinese verses for each piece. The earliest piece was “Autumn”, which was composed in 2012 and published on Baidu Zhidao. In 2014 I collected these pieces together and named the poem “Four Seasons”. I posted this poem on both Sina blog and Baidu Tieba. The Sina blog version is at this link: http://blog.sina.com.cn/s/blog_6ba7f2750102v9zp.html

Recently I found out that someone named “Scott Collins” plagiarized my poem and published it in a book titled “Four Seasons”. The book was published in 2015. It is clear that he plagiarized the Baidu Tieba version of the poem, because the printed version contains the same typographical mistake as the Tieba version (Baidu Tieba does not allow editing after an article is posted).

The complete poem is below.

中英双文对应的诗,英文之后是中文。

Spring

Redbuds’ blossom pink,

A touch of warmth from the brink,

Is the spark that makes two hearts link.

Summer

At Milky Way’s end the wish comes true,

As I catch the meteor shower,

In my hands with you.

Autumn

When hazel shells are plumping,

And pumpkin gourds are swelling,

Trees fall in love, blushing.

Winter

A crystalline veil,

A blanket of clean pale,

Hides a sigh, a buried tale.
